Azienda Sanitaria Locale di Modena (ASLM) of Modena is set out to: i) the performance and activities of the Specialist Centres for Cognitive (CDCD, geriatricians or neurologists), the Day Care Centres for Alzheimer patients (DCA), the Special Dementia Care Units (SDCU), the Special Hospital Unit (SHU) for Dementia and Day Service for BPSD (DS- BPSD), ensuring the appropriateness of interventions for diagnosis and treatment of major BPSD or crisis; ii) encourage a more organic integration of the existing SOC and among the health and social professionals and family associations; iii) to launch innovative services in a territory like Modena, with an already longstanding rich experience and expertise in Psychogeriatrics.
The Modena Agency for Health has developed, through the coordination of Dementia Programme, a network of hospital and primary care services dedicated to people with dementia (PWD) and their caregivers. This network is designed to implement, monitor and ensure the objectives of the Emilia-Romagna Dementia Project (DGR 2581/99 and DGR 990/2016. The network of services dedicated to Alzheimer’s disease and the main forms of dementia can provide, in a timely and appropriate interventions for diagnosis and management of neuropsychiatric disorders (BPSD) as recommended by the European project Alcove (2013).
The Centers for Cognitive Disorders and Dementia (CDCD) work in collaboration with general practitioners (GPs), psychologists of Clinical Psychology Service for support to PWD and carers, family associations that provide a range of interventions (such as Alzheimer Cafè, listening centers and self-help groups), social services financed by Regional Fund dedicated to long-term care.

He is a geriatrician expert in dementia care and management and in quality of care organisation especially in long-term care; he works as director of Dementia Program at Local Health Trust of Modena, Italy. Dr. Fabbo, as Director of Dementia Programme, is responsible for coordinating 10 Memory Clinic and specialized services for dementia in Primary Care Department and Hospital (Neurological and Geriatric Services) and he is a consultant in the “Dementia Project” for Emilia-Romagna Regional Government. Dr Fabbo collaborates with Alzheimer’s caregivers associations and with European Interdem Group. He is a specialist registrar at: 1) School of Geriatrics, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia; 2) School of Occupational Therapy, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia; 3) Department of Psychology, Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna.
