U.O. of Neurology of Humanitas Gavazzeni conducts clinical activities and diagnostics in various fields of Neurology predominantly outpatient, and mainly deals with issues related to the pathology of the central nervous system, with a focus on vascular and neurodegenerative illness, the study of headache and brain circulation. Neurology has a staff of neurologists (3), 2 consultants, 1 technical neurophysiopathology, 1 neuropsychologist. As part of Neurology’s operating frequency of psychology interns, under the agreement with University of Bergamo.
U.V.A. Centre with more 1500 visits/year carries out an activity aimed at evaluating cognitive disorders in the field of neurodegenerative disease and dementia. In parallel with the clinical care and scientific part is a project in line with the National Plan of Dementia with institution of Alzheimer Café operating for 7 years. This project allows us to follow the psychological care of patients and caregivers. In view of the multiple dimension of the demented subjects neurology have a multidisciplinary approach with particular regards to organic brain disorders. A detailed attention is focused on confusional status secondary to internist o surgical problems. In the course a study of cognitive disorders in patients with OSAS and assessments of cognitive reserve.

Within the clinical activity and search introduces a specific qualification in the Clinical Neurology, with particular reference to neurodegenerative illness of the SNC, dementia. Her scientific affairs have been in the last turned years to the correlated activities to the diagnosis and the pharmacological treatment of the Alzheimer disease and dementia. She collaborates with Alzheimer’s Association and found in its Institute a special program “Alzheimer Café” for PwD and caregivers. She organizes conferences neuroscience aimed at the study of neurodegenerative disease. She has participated in clinical trials of national and international level for the Alzheimer Dementia, for the dysfunction cognitive and cerebrovascular disease. And’ co-author of publications on national and international magazines (over one hundred publications on reviewed magazines and not), and has participated in national and international scientific demonstrations in order to updating and professional qualification.
