Federazione Alzheimer Italia

Federazione Alzheimer Italia, the biggest Italian non-profit organization that takes care of Alzheimer’s patients and their families, was founded in 1993 by family members with the mission of “Improving the quality of life of both the patients and their families”. Today Federazione Alzheimer Italia has grown to be a federation of 47 associations all over Italy.

Our goals are: to represent Member Alzheimer Associations both nationally and internationally, to inform and educate lay and professional people, to stimulate and coordinate the research into causes, prevention, care and therapy of AD, to assist and support Alzheimer’s patients and their families, to advocate for the needs of the patients and their families, to promote pilot centres for diagnosis and care and training of specialized professional, to foster the development of voluntary local Alzheimer Associations.

Our activities are: National Dementia Helpline “Pronto Alzheimmer”, free personal advice and practical support, legal and psychologic advice, information about care homes and other resources, information about local chapters, training courses for family members and professional caregivers, publications and fact sheets, information and public awareness campaign, advocacy for public policy issues, psychosocial studies, taking part in national and international research projects, creation of Dementia Friendly Communities.

Federazione is full member of ADI, Alzheimer Europe, Ledha (League for the rights of disabled people), Fian (Federation of neurological associations), Federazione Cure Palliative and, together with the biggest non-profit organizations in Italy we are part of the advisory committee of Vita (the biggest national magazine for volunteering).

She is Co-founder of Alzheimer Milano Association and Federazione Alzheimer Italia Chairperson of both organisations.

Member

He is Secretary General with a degree in Political Science. His main duties in Federazione Alzheimer Italia include: collaboration with and support to the Board, liaison with the member organizations and other Italian organizations, representation of the organization both at international and national level and project management of the first pilot project “Dementia Friendly Community” in Italy. He is member of the Committee for the monitoring and implementation of the national dementia plan lead by the Ministry of Health.

Member

Degree in Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology. Representative to the dementia’s table of the City of Milan. Her main duties in Federazione Alzheimer Italia include: Social and psychological counselling for Pronto Alzheimer, the first italian dementia helpline. Specialist training for caregivers and social care professionals about dementia and daily life communication.Co-author for publications and magazine.
